Military Courtesy Room @ Syracuse Airport

Saturday, May 10, 2008

Excerpts of letter to Area Vice from Loren Davies

A "first in the Nation" Military Courtesy Room is being planned by the Emerald City MCL Detachment to be housed at the Syracuse Airport. This room will be for troops of all services, and give them a place to relax and socialize between flights, with free refreshments etc.

Commandant Loren Davies, Emerald City Detachment met with the Airport Commissioner yesterday. He showed him the room at the north end of the airport, and it's perfect. They are looking for monetary and furniture donations ( coffeemakers{ large capacity} small TV, refrigerator, etc.) Any help will be appreciated. This has to be approved by the Syracuse Common Council in two weeks, but the Commissioner has assured him it's not a problem because the Syracuse Mayor is all for it.

We will need press coverage and we are going to Fort Drum and let them know that it will probably open by the middle of June. Future updates will be posted as they happen.

Let's bring North Central up to 100% compliance...

Q: How do I edit my Division, Department or Detachment Web Page?
A: EVERY DIVISION VICE-COMMANDANT AND DEPARTMENT AND DETACHMENT COMMANDANT SHOULD APPOINT A MEMBER WHO HAS INTERNET ACCESS AND COMPUTER EXPERIENCE AS THEIR "WEB SERGEANT".
ALL COMMANDANTS RECEIVED A PACKAGE WITH INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO ASSIGN A WEB SERGEANT IN THE MAIL IN JUNE OF 2005.
ALL NEW DETACHMENTS RECEIVE THE SAME INSTRUCTIONS WHEN THEIR CHARTER INFORMATION IS SENT OUT.
If you have spoken to your Commandant and are absolutely positive, he/she does not have the instructions, ONLY the Commandant may request one. The name, address and email address of the Commandant requesting the instructions MUST match what is on record at National Headquarters. If needed, send a recent Officer Installation Report to National Headquarters and allow 5 business days, for the information to be input, before making the request for instructions.
ALL DIVISIONS, DEPARTMENTS AND DETACHMENTS SHOULD ASSIGN A WEB SERGEANT THEN PASS A COPY OF THE INSTUCTIONS TO THAT WEB SERGEANT SO THAT HE/SHE CAN MAKE CORRECTIONS, CHANGES AND ADDITIONS TO THEIR OWN WEB PAGE LOCATED ON THE NATIONAL WEBSITE.
ONLY THE ASSIGNED WEB SERGEANT CAN MAKE CHANGES TO THAT DIVISION, DEPARTMENT OR DETACHMENT WEB PAGE!
Neither National Headquarters nor the National Webmaster will make changes to your Web Page! That responsibility must lie with that Web Sergeant. In the event a Detachment does not have anyone who can handle that assignment, it is suggested you contact your Commandant to request help from the Department Web Sergeant. Only the person assigned by the Commandant will be able to edit the web page. Please do not write to National Headquarters or the National Webmaster to explain that you are the Editor of your web page if you have not been explicitly assigned. For security reasons, only the person who is chosen by the Commandant will be assigned the rights to edit their web page. If you are interested in being the Division, Detachment or Department Web Sergeant, discuss this with your Commandant. Keep in mind that you should have experience with computers and the Internet.
